So i met this young lady like a few days ago and it was a catalyst to put me in a sweet mood. In conjuction, i was reading poetry from an old friend, including Nikki Giovanni's "Kidnap", thinking about poetry from high school and all the funny ways we used to analyze poetry and with this interesting mish-mash, i came up with this. i was not too impressed with it (especially after my sis bashed it) but i felt i couldn't trash it either so here it is. I call it "your poem".
Your Poem
I wish I was a poet, so I could write you in a poem,
It would be a classic, a romantic and an epic all rolled in one,
With figures of speech as striking as your beauty,
I will enjamb the smile in your eyes upon the sound of your voice in words
that will begin to let the reader know the sensation that it is to hear you talk and watch you smile…..breathtaking.
Each and every line will be as unique as it is captivating,
wrapped in words to produce a rhythm that can only be superseded by the way you walk
With verses filled with rhymes and onomatopoeic words to make up meters that would warm the iciest hearts,
With radiant archetypes of angels in chorus
on a backdrop of imagery of a sunrise over a calm ocean horizon,
And the refrain, there will be no refrain for the wonder that is you is ever evolving,
But to attempt to write you in a poem will be a paradox,
For no stanza, no matter how euphonic; no limerick, no matter how humorous; no metaphor, no matter how iconic,
Could possibly personify you.
For the most sensational words to grace the lines of a page, to make the most beautiful poem ever, can only be
but a euphemism for you.

I was looking and looking
Trying to find a poem for you today
That would somehow magically contain
All the words I want to send to you
Perfectly aligned and mixed down
to that just-right blend of sugar
And mellowjazz
A cocktail of a poem
But I've thrown so many words to you
And really, the right ones don't exist
So I'm just sending this.
